Our Rules

Our rules are straightforward and what you would expect from a well run club. Basically members are asked to respect other anglers, the general public and the environment and not to leave litter.

We hold general meeting on the first Wednesday of each month at 7.30 at the Sherpa on Grange Lane Scunthorpe

Night fishing is permitted at Besthorpe but not at Thealby.

Iron and Steel angling club is a long established club with it's roots in the steel making town of Scunthorpe.

Membership is not limited and currently we have around 80 members.

We are affiliated to Scunthorpe Amalgamated Anglers and have our own waters at Besthorpe on the Tidal Trent where the main targeted species are Barbel, Bream and Chub with the occasional river Carp showing. We also lease a lake at Thealby on the outskirts of Scunthorpe this is a well-stocked lake predominant species being Tench, Bream, Rudd, Perch & Roach but some Carp are present. Double figure Bream are also known to be present.

Whilst the water at Besthorpe due to it's nature is not suitable for disabled anglers the lake at Thealby is highly suitable for such including wheelchair bound anglers.

We run regular matches for those interested in such including an evening match series at Thealby between May to August.
